It's a few minutes past 4:00 a.m. in Seattle and we just put the new KCTS 9 digital transmitter on-air.
This transmitter is on VHF channel 9 where our old transmitter has been.

Why are you broadcasting on VHF? VHF stations are mandated to only broadcast on low power. Combined with the fact most new HDTV antennas are UHF only or they include VHF as an afterthought, it seems you do not care about the general public with this move. Please respond and tell us if you plan on moving to UHF so that many more people, like me, will be able to watch your programming.

Hi.
A quick question: I am using a Dish Network DTVPal converter box. After the June 12th conversion, I re-scanned to get KCTS. However, the converter finds KCS on digital channels 75-001 rather than 9-001. I tried rescanning multiple times but no change. Interesting, when you look at the "Channel Listing" in the DTVPal, it shows the channels in order (e.g. 4-001, 5-001, 7-001, 75-001, 11-001, etc), so it seems to know that 75-001 is actually channel 9.
Why is this? It's not a big problem, but my curiosity has gotten the better of me and I have not been able to find anything on here about this.
FYI, the ATSC tuner on my flat screen TV still shows KCTS as being on Channel 9. Very ood!
Thanks!

I was receiving all 3 PBS feeds digital just fine, but now, although my antenna is rated as upper VHF (7 -13) and full UHF, I cannot find the relocated channel 9 signals. We are in the Mt Vernon area, about 45 air miles from your antennas. --Larry

Larry, I live near Mt. Vernon (Conway) as well. Prior to the official DTV switch on Saturday I received all 3 PBS channels just fine on UHF channel 41. Now that they have been switched to VHF channel 9 I noticed that I have to pay much closer attention to the direction my antenna is pointing. If my antenna is pointing the wrong way I get nothing. My antenna is a combination VHF/UHF regular antenna that I have had for almost 10 years. One other point of info, my elevation is about 500 ft. but my antenna looks like it is pointing directly into trees so by no means do I have an unobstructed line of sight. Though I'm sure the 500 ft. does help. -Fred

I, too, have been able to receive the digital transmissions prior to yesterday - despite rescanning a few times. I wonder, where is the transmitting antenna located?

Hi Ron,
Our transmitting antenna is located in Seattle on Capitol Hill. I'd recommend giving us a call so that we can help troubleshoot your problem.

Digital TV is NOT here! My two old analog TV's with simple converter boxes are working fine - Channels 9.1, 9.2, 9.3, 11.2, 13.1, 13.2, and all the other local digital channels. My new HDTV with digital tuner and a simple indoor UHF antenna, which has been receiving all the above digital channels, is now completely dead on channels 9.1 through 13.2.
Addition to the VHF poles to the antenna made no difference. Some progress! Would a boosted antenna solve the problem? Help!

Too bad you moved back to VHF on your digital broadcast. I bought a new UHF antenna last year and have been able to view the digital signal fine. Now I may have to buy a different antenna: UHF/VHF. :)
Still, keep up the good work !!
