Intern - Web Production

Note: This is an unpaid intern position, approximately 12-15 hours per week. Our office hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. We are flexible on the days of the week but prefer a minimum time commitment of 2 days per week.  We require a minimum time commitment of 3 months.

KCTS 9 is the largest public television station in the Pacific Northwest, reaching over 2 million viewers weekly in Washington and British Columbia. Located in the heart of Seattle at Seattle Center, KCTS 9 improves the quality of life in the communities we serve by providing meaningful programming on air, online and in the community that informs, involves and inspires.

KCTS 9 is seeking a Web Production Intern to maintain, design and publish Web site content through the company’s content management system. KCTS9.org is a dynamic interactive platform that enhances KCTS 9’s brand and expands KCTS 9’s presence 24/7; our users depend on it for timely content online and on-demand.

Student will have an opportunity to work in a highly creative environment in one of the industry’s leading PBS stations.  Intern will gain hands-on web production experience using Drupal, HTML, CSS, Photoshop and Castfire.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Update KCTS9.org homepage and sub-channels with new information and images
2. Help plan and design new pages and templates on KCTS9.org
3. Help maintain, edit and publish videos to KCTS9.org and YouTube
4. Work with KCTS 9 Interactive staff to build site for the future

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High School diploma or GED required
2. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an educational degree program
3. Working knowledge of HTML required
4. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills required
5. Comfortable working with PC’s and Mac’s
6. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop a plus
7. Interest in KCTS 9 content and/or Public Broadcasting
8. Exuberant attitude
9. Willing to pitch in and help with all duties surrounding Web and TV production
10. Ability to work in a fast paced environment
